| All you wanted to know about PNs
Now that PNs with underlying derivatives have to be withdrawn in 18 months, it is likely that there may be some choppy sessions ahead but the volatility should pan out very soon. Mr Sunil Rongala is a Hyderabad-based economist. A search for PN on www.abbreviations.com yields 37 results, beginning with 'pain' (physiology). The rest include part number, Pitcairn Island, planetary nebulae, pseudo noise, peripheral neuropathy, practical nurse, proton neutron, portable network, primitive notion, and project nothing. "Participatory note or PN was a fairly unknown term to most people, including those who invested in the stock market," observes Mr Sunil Rongala , a PhD in economics, in a discussion with Business Line on the currently hot topic.

Proof settles paperwork problems
At Your Service: On Sept. 7, GMAC sent me loan-modification papers to return by Sept. 14. According to the FedEx shipping label printed by GMAC, that action was performed on Sept. 7. I received the package Sept. 10. The same day, I notarized and signed the paperwork. I sent the papers back on Sept. 12, along with my payment of $709.01. As of Oct. 5, the check still had not been cashed. However, I have proof GMAC received these items at 9:09 a.m. Sept. 14. I checked with my bank on Sept. 24 to see whether my payment had cleared, but was told it had not been presented for payment. I called GMAC several times and was told it never received the package. When I said the package was signed for in a Waterloo, Iowa, office, I was advised nothing could be done. On Sept.
Man in custody accused of threatening to kill Helen Clark
A 39-year-old beneficiary is behind bars accused of threatening to kill Prime Minister Helen Clark. Karl Andrew Fenn allegedly wrote to Miss Clark demanding $100,000 be paid into his bank account or she would be a "dead woman". Fenn appeared in Auckland District Court yesterday when he was remanded in custody until tomorrow for a bail application. It was reported today that Miss Clark's correspondence secretary opened the letter on November 1 and alerted police. Miss Clark's office refused to comment on "private security matters". Auckland police were unavailable for comment today. It is the second known case involving a death threat against Miss Clark which went to court. Former undercover police officer Frank Louis Miessen, 46, was found guilty in Christchurch District Court in 2005 of threatening to kill the PM.
