(AFX UK Focus) 2007-11-19 05:47 GMT: G20 MEETING At-a-glance guide to the main points

KLEINMOND, South Africa (Thomson Financial) - Following is an at-a-glance guide to the weekend meetings of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors.

GLOBAL GROWTH

G20 finance ministers and central bankers conceded that the extent of the global economic slowdown following this summer's turmoil in financial markets is difficult to predict. In its communique after their weekend meeting, the G20's finance ministers and central bankers noted that "downside risks to the near-term outlook have increased as a consequence of recent financial market disturbances". While the G20 believes the slowdown is likely to be modest, it also acknowledged that the extent and duration of the slowdown remain "difficult to predict". Though the slowdown is expected to moderate pressures on capacity and resources, the G20 warned that rising energy and food prices will be important sources of inflationary pressure.

Business: Bank secures major account

A SWEDISH bank which has just opened its doors for business in Coventry city centre has secured the business of one of the area's most successful local house builders.

Handelsbanken, which moved into its new Coventry office at 6 The Quadrant, beat off competition from the major banks to win the account of rapidly expanding Ian Neale Homes Ltd.

The management team at Handelsbanken's Coventry office have excellent career track records with the UK's major banks but believe Handelsbanken with its emphasis on building personal relationships with its customers, will offer a different perspective in commercial banking to the local business community.

The Swedish bank already has more than 600 branches worldwide and more than 40 in Britain.

Ian Neale will be a customer of the new Handelsbanken Coventry branch.

Banks bitten as £5bn wiped off shares

THE gossip is as fine as the vintage wine at the New York headquarters of Citigroup, and it flows just as freely. At 399 Park Avenue in Manhattan, the management team of one of the world's largest banks enjoys access to nine private dining rooms and a menu prepared by a team of top chefs. Yesterday's dish of the day was humble pie.

The resignation of Charles Prince, the chief executive, amid losses of as much as $18 billion (£9 billion), as a result of high-risk mortgages, triggered further losses of £5 billion in the shares of Britain's banks, leaving the public to question whatever had happened to the days when bank managers were cautious men who lunched at their desks on sandwiches from brown paper bags and carefully scrutinised, over half-moon spectacles, home-loan applicants.

Publicis Groupe: 3rd Quarter Revenue

Third Quarter Revenue 2007

Publicis Groupe's consolidated revenue for Q3 2007 rose 10.8% to EUR 1,122 million, compared with EUR 1,013 million for the same period in 2006. In Q3 alone, the negative impact of exchange rate variations was EUR 33 million. At constant exchange rates the increase would have been 14.5%.

Organic growth in the third quarter was 4.6%, in line with the Groupe's expectations. It should be noted that the performance of Digitas (+17.7%) is not taken into account in the calculation of Groupe organic growth in 2007.

The third quarter saw a steady progression at Publicis Worldwide and Leo Burnett, and strong growth at Saatchi & Saatchi, particularly in the USA. Publicis Groupe Media networks, Starcom MediaVest and ZenithOptimedia, both achieved double-digit growth.
