| Fifth Third hires Minneapolis advertising agency
Fifth Third Bancorp has retained Olson, a Minneapolis-based advertising agency as its new agency of record, replacing the Sunrise Agency in Cincinnati. Fifth Third, the nation's 13th-largest bank with $104 billion in assets, conducted a national search to replace Sunrise, which had served the bank for 11 years. Fifth Third is estimated by Brandweek to be a $29 million account. Olson is an independent agency that has tripled in size since 2003, landing new business from Hickory Farms, Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corp. and Bigg's parent Supervalu Inc. (NYSE: SVU). Olson landed the Bigg's account in 2005, taking it away from another Cincinnati agency, Freedman, Gibson & White Inc. "We chose Olson because of its breadth of strategic and creative thinking," said Larry Magnesen, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Cincinnati-based Fifth Third (NASDAQ: FITB).
